It seems that the city of Glendale actually lost money by hosting the game when all is said and done. The city of Phoenix benefited a great deal, because they did not have to foot the burden of supplying all the required infrastructure, like security. All in all it seems that Phoenix and surrounding cities were the Super Bowl winners, not the city of Glendale. But they sure got lots of publicity. And it was a game that made Super Bowl history, too.
The game was the most watched ever, and it was an exciting one at that. The New England Patriots had a flawless season up until the game that mattered most, and lost in an upset victory to the New York Giants in the last few minutes of the game. It was a wrenching moment for Patriots' fans, and sports critics said the game would be Super Bowl history for years to come.
