The Mayor of Glendale, Arizona, Elaine Scruggs, has received 2 free tickets to Super Bowl XLII. Originally all Valley politicians were offered Super Bowl tickets at a minimum of $700 each, which is far less than fans will pay on the secondary ticket market. The ticket price was still too much for the mayor for her $48,000 salary.

The Super Bowl XLII Host Committee, leverages a number of tickets to raise $14 million for game-related events and was not planning to give away any free game day tickets.  The local group, however, changed their minds since the mayor plays an important role throughout Super Bowl Week.

Bob Sullivan, president of the committee said, "It's the right thing to do. She's got to be there." Complimentary tickets were not extended to the rest of City Council members, who will have to pay regular price if they want to attend.
